1.Storm Worm
Appeared in 2006 called “Storm Worm” and spread via email. This is a Trojan horse program where some of its variants change the computer victims as a bot to send spam emails.
2. Leap-A/Oompa- A
Not a really dangerous virus actually however this virus can infect Mac OS computers, a proof that Mac is not really virus free.
3. Sasser and Netsky
Invesnted by a German 17 years old kid Sven Jaschan, this virus attacks computers with Microsoft OS. Quite dangerous but the creator, Jaschan is not jailed since he’s still under 18.
4. MyDome (Novarg)
Found the first time at February 1st 2004 this virus creates backdoor on the victim computers. This is the virus that finally forced the US Senator Chuck Schumer to create National Virus Response Center.
5.SQL Slammer/Saphire
Appeared in January 2003 this virus damage many infrastructures those days, from ATM crashes, 911 call errors, into airline ticketing system errors.
6.Nimda
Appeared in 2001, Nimda spread really fast and only need 22 minutes to be listed on the top 10 list.
7.Code Red & Code Red II
Appeared in Summer 2001 attacking Windows 2000 and Windows NT that will eat all the memory resources. This virus forced Microsoft to release their new patch.
8.The Klez
Appeared in 2001 spread via email and reduplicate itself and send new emails to al contacts on the address book.
9.ILOVEYOU
Spreaded via email with “Love Letter” subject along with an attached program in visual basic. Created by Onel de Guzman from Philippines.
10.Melissa
Created in 1999 by David L Smith, in Microsoft Word macro, and spreads via email. Smith was jailed for 20 months and fined $5000.
